What is the oldest university in Finland?

The oldest university in Finland is the University of Helsinki. Its roots go back to 1640, when the Royal Academy of Turku (Turun akatemia) was founded in the city of Turku, making it Finland’s first institution of higher education. After a great fire destroyed much of Turku in 1827, the academy was moved to Helsinki, where it eventually became the University of Helsinki. Today it is Finland’s largest university, offering study programs across a wide range of fields, and it is known for its high level of teaching and research.
