What is conflict?

Conflict is a situation where there is a conflict between two or more parties that can lead to disagreements, violence or other harmful actions. Conflicts can arise, for example, from different values, goals, resources or views. Conflicts can be personal, organizational or international.

Conflicts can be overt or latent and can be dealt with in different ways. Negotiations, mediation, compromises or even non-violent protests may be needed to resolve conflicts. Managing and resolving conflicts is important in order to avoid more serious consequences such as wars or violent clashes.

Conflicts can also be creative and productive if handled constructively. Conflicts can be used to bring out different perspectives and ideas, which can lead to better cooperation and innovation.
