He was born on November 27, 1870 and served as the President of the Republic of Finland from 1946 to 1956. Paasikivi was 75 years old when he started his presidency, which makes him the oldest president to take office, but not the youngest.<\/p>\n<p>The youngest president to take office was <b>Martti Ahtisaari<\/b>, who was born on June 23, 1937. He became president on March 1, 1994, when he was 56 years old. Ahtisaari served as president for one term, until 2000.<\/p>\n<h2>Martti Ahtisaari&#8217;s background and career<\/h2>\n<p>Martti Ahtisaari was born in Vyborg and grew up in Oulu. He graduated as a public school teacher and started his career as a teacher. Later, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served in several international positions, including as the UN&#8217;s special representative in Namibia. Ahtisaari is especially known as a peace mediator and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2008.<\/p>\n<h2>Presidential term<\/h2>\n<p>Ahtisaari&#8217;s presidency was significant in many ways. During his time, Finland joined the European Union in 1995.
