The first president of Finland was Kaarlo Juho St\u00e5hlberg. He served as the President of the Republic of Finland in 1919\u20131925. St\u00e5hlberg’s election as president took place after Finland’s independence, when the country had moved to a republican form of government.<\/p>\n

Kaarlo Juho St\u00e5hlberg’s background<\/h2>\n

Kaarlo Juho St\u00e5hlberg was born on January 28, 1865 in Suomussalmi. He was trained as a lawyer and, before his presidency, worked as a professor of administrative law at the University of Helsinki, as well as in several important civil service and political positions. St\u00e5hlberg was also one of the central figures in the development of the Finnish constitution and form of government.<\/p>\n

Presidential term<\/h2>\n

St\u00e5hlberg was elected president on July 25, 1919. During his presidency, Finland was a young and independent country that faced many challenges, such as reconstruction after the civil war and establishing its international status. During St\u00e5hlberg’s period, many basic institutions were also created, which are still part of the Finnish state system.<\/p>\n
