Sudan is the world&#8217;s third largest Arab country by area.<\/p>\n<p>Sudan has experienced many political and social challenges, including civil wars and political instability. In 2011, South Sudan became independent from Sudan, which was a significant change in the country&#8217;s political map.<\/p>\n<h2>EU-Sudan relations<\/h2>\n<p>Even though Sudan is not a member of the EU, the European Union has been an active player in Sudan&#8217;s humanitarian aid and development cooperation.
