Why do we celebrate Maundy Thursday?

Holy Thursday is a Christian holiday celebrated 40 days after Easter. After Easter, forty days of Easter are first celebrated, which is called the Easter season. Holy Thursday is therefore part of the period after Easter and it is always Thursday. Holy Thursday is the day of Jesus’ ascension, when it is believed that Jesus ascended to heaven in front of his disciples. This event is described in the Acts of the Bible. Maundy Thursday is therefore an important holiday in the Christian tradition and it is part of the Easter holiday season.

Why do we celebrate Maundy Thursday?
