What is a family?

Family is usually a group of people who are closely related and share emotional and financial support. The family can include, for example, parents and their children, or other types of relatives such as siblings or grandparents. A family can also be a chosen family, where people are not biologically related to each other, but are still very close and support each other.

The meaning of family varies in different cultures and societies. In some cultures, the role of the family is very central and family members are expected to support each other throughout life. In other cultures, on the other hand, individual independence is emphasized more, and the role of the family may be less.

A family can also be diverse, and nowadays more and more families deviate from the traditional mother-father-child model. For example, single-parent families, new families and rainbow families have become more common. However, the most important thing in a family is love, support and common well-being.
