What is a discipline?

A field of science is a special branch of science that focuses on the research and development of a specific subject area. There are countless different fields of science, and they can cover, for example, natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering and medicine.

The purpose of the scientific fields is to deepen our understanding of the world and its phenomena and to promote the creation of new knowledge. They are based on the scientific method, which includes observation, experimental research, theory formation and evaluation of results.

The development of scientific fields is often based on multidisciplinary cooperation, where experts from different fields bring their own contribution to joint research. The boundaries of disciplines are not always clear, and often different disciplines can overlap and support each other.
