What does night electricity mean?

Night electricity means the use of electricity at night, usually between 22:00 and 06:00, when the price of electricity is cheaper than during the day. Night electricity is part of the electricity supply contract, where the customer takes advantage of a cheaper electricity price by using their electrical equipment mainly at night. This can, for example, mean programming the heating so that the heating works efficiently at night and decreases during the day, when the price of electricity is more expensive.

Night electricity is usually part of two types of electricity contracts, where day electricity and night electricity are priced separately. Night electricity is usually cheaper, because the demand for electricity at night is usually lower and electricity production can be cheaper thanks to, for example, wind power or hydropower.
