Is midsummer a paid holiday?

Midsummer is an official holiday in Finland, but it is not automatically a paid day off for all employees. The employee’s right to paid time off during Midsummer depends on the collective agreement or employment contract. Midsummer’s Eve, i.e. Friday, is usually a paid day off, but Midsummer’s Day Saturday itself is not necessarily so.

If you work during Midsummer, you may be entitled to an increased salary or a day off later. It is worth checking your own collective agreement or employment contract so that you know your rights during Midsummer.
