Although Argentina is not a member of the EU, it has important economic and political relations with the European Union. Argentina is part of the Mercosur trade union, which also includes Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. The EU and Mercosur have been negotiating a free trade agreement that could strengthen economic ties between these regions.
